Sometime during the build process you WILL get burned out... you just can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel... or hear the train coming at you. So how do you minimize these times? Glad you asked.
At Jet Guys sometimes we run into the wall. But there are so many projects going on we can just change to a different project. You probably can’t. So start with one task and finish it without getting side tracked. It’s easy to run off on a tangent. You are working one one thing then think, wait, I could go do this now. Next thing you know you have been working all day and have nothing to show for it.
Lay out your project for the day and stick to the plan....even for the really boring stuff like micro sanding a wing. It’s never ending, the sanding. But stick to it, one foot in front of the other, until it’s finished. Eventually it will be sanded and you just completed one step of the project....yea, progress. If you run off to something else in the middle of sanding, the sanding will still be hanging over your head....seems like a setback....unfinished project......for me it makes it harder to actually go back to the airplane because of the sense of not accomplishing something.
So make a plan and finish the plan......believe me....everyday before we all get started the plan is laid out. Yea, sometimes the plan gets blown up, but we really do try to stick to it.
Keep the plan, STAY FOCUSED, and get from here to there!
